IMPOTENCE
(Erectile Dysfunction)
The medical dictionary defines impotence as the
lack of power, especially lack of sexual power in man. This means there
is a consistent inability to achieve and maintain an erection in order
to have intercourse. There are different causes of impotence. A
functional cause is due to something being wrong with the central
nervous system. An organic cause can be due to some anatomical defect in
the sexual organs. There are also many other factors that can impact the
male's general health that can cause impotence. Here are some of those
factors:
1. Medications, particularly for high blood
pressure, sedatives, ulcer drugs, antihistamines, and drugs for
depressive states, such as lithium. 2. Diabetes mellitus is an extremely
important factor and can often cause impotence. 3. The use of alcohol
and drugs are extremely important, and alcoholics and drug abusers are
likely to be impotent. 4. Diseases that affect the central nervous
system as in stroke, multiple sclerosis, syphilis, or spinal cord
injuries. 5. Glandular diseases that affect sexual glands, adrenal,
thyroid or pituitary glands. 6. Surgery of the back, genitals,
cardiovascular or prostate. 7. Smoking can also be a factor leading to:
8. Hardening of the arteries (athersclerosis) that can affect the blood
circulation to the penis. 9. Toxic chemicals can be another cause, and
workers who are exposed to these chemicals over an extended period are
at risk. 10. Psychological problems as discussed below.
Differences in either sexual partner can induce a
stressful relationship that causes anxiety, which in turn causes
depression that further heightens the anxiety. When in this state,
achieving and maintaining an erection becomes almost impossible. Any
depressive state in the male for any reason causing a state of anxiety,
may possibly be due to hypoglycemia (low blood sugar). This differs from
the diabetic where the increase of sugar affects the blood circulation
to the penis. Controlling the blood sugar is a key factor in the control
of anxiety. The diet becomes one of the chief culprits in the above
scenario. Overeating simple carbohydrates can result in obesity and
diabetes mellitus, which may and most probably result in impotency.
Impotence will affect 30% or more of the male
population 45 and over, and is not due to the aging process. Impotence
can also affect the much younger male at different times during their
adulthood. During this time the erection may be less than firm. Or, the
erection may be firm at the beginning and then becomes flaccid during
intercourse so that the act cannot be completed.
Because of all the preceding causes and affects
leading to impotency, it is advisable for a male of any age, who is
impotent or believes the condition is starting, should see a Urologist
for an examination and evaluation. The evaluation will determine if
there are serious organic problems. In the absence of any such problems
his recommendation for treatment may be as follows:
1. Self administered penile injection causing an
increase in the circulation of the penis. 2. Surgically implanted,
inflatable or non-inflatable penile Prosthesis. 3. Psychotherapy or
counseling with a qualified sex therapist, either alone or with the
partner. 4. Medications do not help those with psychological causes.
The individual must examine his lifestyle and
start his own treatment regime to correct his physical condition and
make the necessary changes to improve his health. Diet and exercise must
be at the foremost of the changes. By starting the Doctor's Senior
Exercise program, you are giving up only 15 to 20 minutes each
morning to give you the necessary start for physical fitness.
Next, he must examine his diet. Eating a well
balanced diet is extremely important. Correcting any dietary
indiscretions should be at the forefront of the changes. Overloading
with carbohydrates needs to be examined and corrected. The diet should
not include more than 30% of carbohydrates, proteins 40%, and fats 30%.
The fats should be polyunsaturated and not animal fats. No matter what
the diet, supplementation with vitamins, minerals and special herb
formulations are necessary and can be extremely supportive to the body's
glandular systems.
Many drugs, vitamins, minerals and herbs are
touted as aphrodisiacs, because the sexual response of an erection and
orgasm involves the brain, nervous system, spinal nerves, and
circulatory and glandular systems. Some of these vitamins, minerals and
herbs have a stimulating effect on these systems, increasing the
production of the male hormone Testosterone. Lower levels of
Testosterone have been found in some men with impotence. Why then,
shouldn't such a supplementation be included in your diet?
There is such a formulation by Titan Labs that may
possibly improve sexual performance in some men. It is their FACTOR three: VIRILITRAC as seen in our products section.
This formulation offers some of the same therapeutic benefits as some
drug therapies, without the severe side effects. In contrast to drug
therapy, Factor Three: Virilitrac takes longer to bring about a result.
It takes larger doses of herbal nutrients to reach therapeutic levels.
Once the desired effect is achieved, the dosage can be lowered. Libido
still remains regulated by the brain and sexual stimulation is required
for the ability to perform.
To further aide in achieving normal erections on
his own, there is a technique that will help the blood flow to the
penis. This technique is aided by use of the "VACUUM THERAPY
PUMP". This device was once obtained by prescription only, but
after being used successfully by over one million men and demonstrating
the lack of harmful side effects, it is now available without
prescription. Of these one million or more men, approximately 95% have
reported "very good" erections and recommend it highly. When
used as an exercise 4 to 5 times daily over longer periods, they also
report improved natural erections. The reasoning here is that by opening
the penile arteries regularly may help restore their natural elasticity,
thus restoring a more normal blood flow into the penis, resulting in
better rigidity.
The vacuum pump is safe, easy to use and
inexpensive. The simplicity of use makes it the ideal solution for
supportive therapy for the impotent male, and may possibly help restore
normal erections in time. The Vacuum Therapy creates the erection by
placing the flaccid penis in a cylinder and activating the vacuum,
either by manual pump or pressing a button to start a motor pump. The
vacuum draws the blood into the erection bodies mimicking the natural
process. The erection is maintained by a specially designed tension ring
placed by the individual around the base of the penis. Please see our
products section to view and how to order the VTU-1 MANUAL,
or the VTU-E BATTERY operated models. Each model comes with
4 assorted sizes of the tension rings. Additional "RING KITS"
may be ordered. We make it simple to order in the privacy of your home
on our secure order line, and are delivered in an unmarked package.
